RECREATIONAL TRAINING

The instructors at Island Divers are certified PADI Instructors, who are experts in conducting over 30 different levels of training.  The open water course is just the first step in discovering the underwater environment.  At Island Divers, we offer a variety of activities, trips and diving classes to increase your proficiency and your diving horizons.

Discover Scuba Diving        
Experience the thrill of scuba diving without taking the full course! After a brief orientation, you participate in a skills practice session where an instructor teaches the skills necessary for diving safety and comfort. Then you head to the reef for a fun and fish-filled scuba dive with your instructor.

Open Water Course     
If you’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where to your adventure begins! Classroom instruction is followed by water skills training sessions in an indoor heated pool, each paced to meet your personal skill development needs. It all wraps up with four open water dives at a local lake, after which you are certified for life as a PADI Open Water Diver.

Adventure Diver & Advanced Open Water Course
Take your diving to the next level through the Adventures in Diving program, offering both the Adventure Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications. This program gives you a chance to continue your training and expand your diving skills while under the supervision of a PADI Instructor.  If you complete any three adventure dives, you can earn your PADI Adventure Diver certification. If you complete your Deep Adventure Dive, Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive and three elective Adventure Dives for a total of five, you can earn your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification.


Rescue Diver Course
Take the challenge! The PADI Rescue Diver will expand your knowledge and experience.  Until this course, your training has emphasized you and skills that make you a safe diver.  Now you will learn to help make diving safe and more enjoyable for others.  In class and open water, you will learn how to foresee and prevent potential dive problems.  You'll learn how to manage a dive accident if it occurs.  And while this subject is serious, divers find the PADI Rescue diver program to be both rewarding and an enjoyable way to build your confidence.

Emergency First Responder
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other important emergency care skills combined into a single course. Students learn the same priorities of care and approach to the patient used by professional emergency care providers.

Specialty Courses
Island Divers offers instruction in many Specialty Courses; Enriched Air Nitrox, Equipment Specialist, Night, Deep, DPV, Coral Reef Conservation, Underwater Navigation, Underwater Photography, Search and Recovery, Wreck, Drift, Underwater Naturalist, Oxygen Provider, Peak Performance Buoyancy and many more.  Many of our Specialty Courses are incorporated into store sponsored trips and along with other courses.  And we do  SPECIALTY OF THE MONTH at a discount.  Contact us at Island Divers for pricing since it varies with each specialty course and packaging.
 

MASTER SCUBA DIVER
When you have worked hard and enjoyed the challenge of completing all the PADI courses through Rescue Diver, and you have completed at least (5) Specialty Courses you can attain the PADI  Master Scuba Diver certification putting you in a class of distinction. It is the highest non professional level in the PADI system of diver education. It means that you’ve acquired significant training and experience in a variety of dive environments.

Scuba Review (Tune-up)
If you are a certified diver, but it's been awhile since you've been diving, the PADI Scuba Review is for you.  The course helps you tune up your diving skills without having to repeat an entire scuba course.

Scientific Diver Program
There is a "Magical" place for SCUBA divers located in San Marcos, Texas.  It has been magical for over 12,000 years and now Scientific Divers can share that magic.  Aquarena Center is sponsoring the Area's First Scientific Diver Program.  The program details, in classroom format; the history of Spring Lake, the unique biology of the area, and the fascinating history of archaeology from the area.  In the liquid lab, a diver skills and buoyancy control are evaluated prior to diving in Spring Lake.
