Want to take your diving to the next level, but not quite sure what to try? Choose the Advanced Open Water Course! The AOW program includes five dives that introduce you to a variety of specialties. One deep dive and one navigation dive are required, but the other three are completely your choice. Think of it as the buffet course of diving--you get to try a little bit of everything before deciding on a full specialty.
This one weekend program consists of a Friday night orientation (6 pm - 8 pm) and open water dives on Saturday and Sunday. Skills are built upon the principle of “thinking like a diver”, which stresses planning, focus, and fun. During your optional dives you can learn to refine your buoyancy, take your first underwater photos, use search patterns to find a lost object, and more. You don’t need to be a seasoned diver to start the AOW course, any open water diver who wants to expand their knowledge and skills is qualified. The course tuition of $250 includes all of your training, academic materials (PADI AOW Manual and Slate), and certification processing fees. Students must provide their own personal gear (mask, snorkel, boots, fins, and defog), an underwater timing device (either watch or dive computer), knife, and two surface signaling devices (one audible, one visual). Some dives may require additional specialized equipment, but all enrolled students receive 10% off every purchase. If needed, rental for BCD, regulator, wetsuit, weights, and tank is $75 for the weekend. We run one Advanced Course per month, starting on the fourth Friday, from April to October. To sign up, just stop by the shop to fill out paperwork for the class and pick up your training materials (homework must be completed before the orientation night).
